Album Description Hollywood Undead are about to drop a musical bomb. On their debut album (A&M/Octone), they've concocted an explosive cocktail of hip hop, rock and metal, forging an alternative style that's primed to blow the scene up. They craft incisive, sharp and sarcastic raps that slash the jugular of mainstream pop culture. They aren't your standard rap or rock crew. They're something new, dangerous, funny and alive. Deuce busts out the melodies. Johnny 3 Tears, J-Dog and Charlie Scene lead the lyrical charge, while Funny Man drops rhymes, and Da Kurlzz hypes the fray. Donning individual masks, Hollywood Undead possess a dark aesthetic that's connected to their hometown's depravity. Tracks like "No. 5" dissect the frivolities of Hollywood with witty, catchy choruses. Album opener "Undead," sets the tone, firing off a big melody and buoyant beats. Meanwhile, "Los Angeles" examines the town's gritty edge. Rising to prominence via MySpace, these six masked marauders stood at number one on the site's music chart, leading to endless friend requests and plays. However, Hollywood Undead has got the gusto to be earth shattering far beyond cyberspace. They're already knocking at your door, and they're about to break it down.

Okay January 3, 2009 Not as silly as Limp Bizkit, not as hard-core as Dope, not as accessible as Linkin Park, but rather somewhat like all three of these groups with more "rap" tossed in. I bought it at a store advertising it as "metal" (right next to Slipknot and Guns n' Roses) but it is not. In fact, they are much more hip-hop oriented, though not particularly talented or original as far as the lyrics go. Not a bad album, with a couple of solid singles, but will appeal to younger and less experienced listeners. Be advised--"Parental Advisory" is for language, which is absolutley necessary.
nothing new but it still works December 31, 2008 very simple. Fort minor meets the Bloodhound Gang with 1999 Slim Shady type lyrics and rhyme subjects. Its grows on you and shows promise if they would get a little more serious in subject. "play a b*tch like nintendo" ahhhhhhh heard it all before but nice production and "this love this hate" is a must hear!!
We are all derivitives of something else December 20, 2008 This album pumps me up. Some songs remind me of Eminem, some remind me of The Transplants, some remind me of POD, I even hear a little Dre - I don't so much hear the Linkin Park comparison, but maybe that's because Linkin Park is a bunch of clowns. Anyway, check out this CD if you're into rap/rock - even the non single tracks are pretty tight.
Great :) December 20, 2008 The songs on this album do a great job of combining a catchy beat and lyrics that are just out of this world. A must buy for all the haters out there :)
mix 2 parts Eminem + 1 part Linkin Park= Hollywood Undead= unoriginal and redundant December 17, 2008 After hearing and really liking "young" and "undead" I thought I would pick up Swan Songs... oops should've done more research. Don't be fooled be these 2 songs it's as close as you'll get to rock and at that they sound like a watered down "hybrid theory" era Linkin Park.
All the other songs are Rap/Hip-Hop which is not my thing, but even if I was the songs are unoriginal, because they sound like Eminem. I guess I should commend them for not stealing too much material; I think they only stole one song, because every song is about "getting the party started", "drinking 40oz (to get the party started)", or sleeping with well girls that have been drinking 40oz at the party.
Bottom line is I couldn't recommend this to anyone and just buy the singles you like, because no matter what genre you like (rock/rap/hip-hop) you're going to be disappointed in the unoriginal, redundant, and uninspired lyrics.
And hey give Slipknot's masks back.
