3 out of 5 stars nice but defective   January 7, 2009
comfortable and cool looking. liked the fabric covered wiring which is supple and lightweight. decent sound, heavy on bass as most reviews state. returned because of defective earpiece which crackled. good purchase for the price but I opted to go to Bose after the return; more balanced and true sound with greater clarity.

4 out of 5 stars Great product IF they stay in your ears   January 6, 2009
I bought this product for a couple reasons: 1) noise cancellation, and 2) improved sound quality from standard iPod earphones.
I am happy to say that V-Moda Vibe Earbuds served the above two purposes rather well.
However, the only downside of this product is the fitment.
It is not for everyone. When I first got the Earbuds, I tried all three different sizes in two different materials (white and black silicons). Eventually I settled with medium, white silicon buds, but the fit is not always perfect. They depend largely on the 'traction' or 'stickiness' of the rubber to stay in your earcanals and can slip out if you are running or have some moisture to dampen the silicon material.
Also, (this is a problem common to all in-ear earphones) since air conduction of outside noise is reduced, 'internal noise' such as yourself breathing is greatly amplified. This is essentially because the obstruction in the external ear effectively creates a 'conductive hearing loss' and is not a criticism of the product but rather an annoyance.
In terms of sound quality, it is quite bass-heavy although it is reasonably crisp in mid and high ranges as well.
I recommend this product only if you're happy with the fit of the earbuds. You can try them on at Apple stores I believe.

4 out of 5 stars Great Earbuds!!!   January 5, 2009
I own a Zune 30gig and listen to a lot of music. I also play bass guitar so I like to hear clear crisp sound and these buds deliver!

Previously, I used several different high end Sony head phones and these blow them out of the water. Much better sound isolation and they are very loud. I can turn my Zune down to 5-6 and hear perfectly. They delivery bright crisp sound with deep bass. Might not be the buds for you if you are sensitive to the lower bass frequencies. I also like the look and feel, very sexy and the chord doesn't feel like a piece of crap.

Pros:
-Great Sound Quality
-Great bass definition
-Premium Quality Cable
-Different Size earbuds included

Cons:
-Leather case is kinda novelty
-The little R and L letters are partially hidden by the rubber buds

Would I purchase again? YES !!!

3 out of 5 stars good sound quality, but not durable   January 5, 2009
Other reviews have already gone into detail about the sound quality, which for the most part, I agree with. The sound is really good - I have enjoyed using these earbuds.

However, the main (large) reason for my 3-star review is that I find that one needs to really baby these headphones which is absolutely unacceptable for a pair of earphones going for $101 retail.

I bought the La Mocha edition (when the headphones were still offered with the usual soft and kinda of sticky rubber encasing) in Oct 2007. I've been using it for over a year, and unfortunately have gone through 2 sets already even after all of that excessive babying. I had to send the first pair back in April 2008 because the wires were becoming exposed at the back of the earbuds, and now my 2nd pair is doing the exact same thing. Only now, I'm outside of V-moda's 1 year warranty. For the amount of money, I had expected these to last me more than a couple of years, at the minimum... My brother has purchased the newer vibe earbuds with the thread encasing, and so far he is having better luck than I am.

This is a smaller issue and perhaps this might just come with the general earbud territory: my pet peeve with these earbuds is that I have to be constantly aware of the whereabouts of silicone fittings. They have the tendency to come off - a lot. I only had to reorder the fittings once (the smallest is the only that fits me), but have manage since to find them whenever they popped off the earbuds.

I hope those with the newer editions are having a better experience with the vibe's durability than I am.

5 out of 5 stars WOW! I didn't even realize what I was missing   January 4, 2009
I love these earbuds. I just got rid of a pair of Shure E2c earbuds and I like these ones much better. Good bass and good highs and mids, great overall sound and they are very comfortable and they don't fall out. The shure E2c's had to loop over your ear and I found this a little annoying. The V-Moda buds stick right in your ear and fit my ears very nicely. They seem to be made well and the ones I got have the cord coming off the audio jack at an angle which I believe is the newer redesigned model that fixes the problem with the cord coming loose from the jack. I am happy with my purchase and as always amazon had them on my doorstep in 2 days with my Amazon prime shipping.
